Appointment to PPS for Yvette Cooper MP
Following the recent Government reshuffle I have accepted a position as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Yvette Cooper MP (right), the Chief Secretary to the Treasury and a member of the Cabinet.
I was given this role by Yvette and the Treasury and it means that I will provide parliamentary support for her in her ministerial post.
The role involves helping with parliamentary question sessions and debates and attending meetings at the treasury to discuss issues on the economy. This is a really important time to be working on these issues and I am pleased to have the opportunity to assist with work being done to protect savers and ensure stability.
As always my priority will be to help out the most vulnerable. I know many people have asked for banks to take responsibility and we have now seen resignations from chief executives and the Government has been clear that previous practices on bonuses are unacceptable.
The Treasury will be taking on reform of the financial sector in the months ahead and I am pleased to have the chance to assist in this.
